First off, I want to let all my faithful readers know that I was recently named one of the Top 500 Coldwell Banker Agents in New England for 2011 (Jan – YTD)! This designation recognizes the top agents out of the 4,000 or so who work in the New England the region. Thank you for all your support!

And now for my post:
Oh, late August. Mass Ave is quiet and you can find parking in Harvard Square. The plants in my yard are past full-bloom: fading hydrangeas, wilting echinacea, overgrown weeds. The abundance of summer is drawing to a close but the days are still long and the buzz of the new school year hasn’t quite set in yet. It’s an in-between time for me, filled with both savoring the last of summer (beach days!) and thinking about fall (preparing new listings for after Labor Day).
You might think that with the city this quiet there’s nothing going on in real estate in Cambridge and Somerville. And while it’s true there are fewer people at open houses this time of year, there are still buyers actively looking and sellers listing new properties for sale. Defying conventional wisdom that “nothing happens in August” and reaffirming the fact that people buy and sell real estate for personal reasons independent somewhat of “current market conditions,” five gorgeous new properties came on the market this week alone, offering something for those of you looking for a fully-renovated or new construction home in a convenient, beautiful Cambridge or Somerville neighborhood.
For those of you who want to be in Davis Square – in new construction with garage parking – don’t miss 28 Newberne Street, Somerville Units 5, 6 and 7. These condos feature dramatic open floor plans with plenty of light (thanks to the south-facing windows that overlook the bike path), huge cathedral ceilings, three bedrooms and two and a half baths, large decks and high-end finishes. Prices range from $965,000 – $995,000. There will be a public open house on all three units this Sunday, August, 19th from 12:00 – 2:00 PM.
And for those of you who are looking in the Agassiz neighborhood – that coveted Cambridge location by the Law School and Harvard Square – and want all the elegance and original detail of a distinguished older home but with the bight open spaces and clean lines of a new renovation, look no further than the pitch-perfect renovations of 50 and 52 Wendell Street. The homes at 50 and 52 Wendell Street each feature four bedrooms, three and a half baths, over 3000 square feet of living area, off-street parking and private yards for $1,665,000 and $1,695,000. 50 and 52 Wendell are not open for a public open house this weekend but for private showings please contact me.
